Instead, he took Kinjou's hand and began to lead him back to the bathroom where he knew the first aid kit would be kept. Thank god all these apartments were standard.

He didn't really want to say anything to Kinjou, though he was clearly annoyed with him. Really what could he say that Kinjou didn't already know? He sounded like he had everything under control, and considering how he himself had been when Mukuro had finished having his wolfish way with him Makishima supposed he had no room to talk. ]

[The walk to the bathroom is silent, his hand rather slack in Makishima's grip. Kinjou feels like he needs to apologize but he doesn't quite understand why he should. He doesn't actually think he's done anything wrong other than worry Makishima, and he's rather sure he's angry with him, but somehow he thinks that if he says anything further he might just make things worse and... well, they're bad enough already.

He doesn't know why it springs to mind, maybe because being here makes it like a comfortable option and not as odd as it'd be back home, maybe because he doesn't think his words are quite enough, but once they reach the bathroom Kinjou leans in and gives Makishima a brief kiss on the cheek.

When he pulls back, his expression is weary yet kind all the same.]

Thank you, for your concern. I don't intend to make you worry.

[ The kiss caught Makishima completely off guard. He paused in his quest for the first aid kit and stared quietly at Kinjou instead.

He knew it wasn't the same thing, but looking at Kinjou with the bruises on his neck and the small trickle of blood that had still oozed out reminded Makishima of another time when he'd seen Kinjou battered and bloody. He... ]

I don't want to see you like that again, sho.

[ Makisima spoke quietly and let his hands drop to his side where they curled into fists. ]

I don't want to see you hurt.

[ Not that he wouldn't come to Kinjou's aid when he needed it, but it honestly scared Makishima. Seeing Kinjou like that had rocked him to his bones, the idea that something far worse could have happened to him wasn't lost on Makishima and that thought was unacceptable. Sure this was just a few overzealous hickeys, but that didn't mean Makishima didn't worry and it didn't mean he wasn't reminded of that day. ]

[That first sentence shouldn't have the strength it does, but Kinjou feels like a knife cutting through his chest, and he winces for just the briefest moment. He'll never forget the expression on Makishima and Tadokoro's face when he'd crossed that goal line, limping and bloody. They had no idea if he'd be able to recover, if he'd even be able to keep cycling.

He's promised himself he'd never put either of them through anything like that again, and yet here he is, worrying Makishima this badly.

Kinjou lets out a heavy sigh and reaches out to take one of those balled up fists, thumb rubbing over tightly clenched knuckles to sooth Makishima into relaxing.]

Makishima. [It's the only thing Kinjou says to get his attention.]

[ The hand on his own more than Kinjou's voice drew Makishima's gaze up. His own blue eyes met green and just for a moment he let Kinjou see just how vulnerable he really felt in this moment. ]

[ He forced out a laugh, looking away again and trying t make light of the situation. ]

I don't know why I'm worrying. You can take care of yourself, right?

[ At least Makishima was trying to tell himself that it was true. ]

It doesn't mean you aren't allowed to worry about me. ...I worry for you as well.

[All the time, he worries. How can't he because of Makishima's hair and how negatively he's been treated since they first arrived at Amoi?]

You have been by my side through many things, and I greatly appreciate it.

[Kinjou takes Makishima's hand and raises it so he can settle it on his chest, where he hopes he can feel the beating of his heart, because that's what he wants him to feel. He's in one piece, his heart is still beating, he's here with Makishima right now. That's what he wants Makishima to focus on. He intends to be here for him as long as he can. He'll be by his side, always. He'll take care of him just as much as Makishima does.

He takes a step forward to close the distance between them, and Kinjou settles his head on Makishima's shoulder.]

[ [ Of course Kinjou would worry about him. Makishima still remembered that day when Kinjou looked as if he was ready to fight another Elite just for giving Makishima a dirty look. He'd been hoping the incident with their hair would be enough to lighten the discrimination but it had only made it worse. Makishima had to be careful. Even more so because he'd heard rumors about the police taking in those with cross-caste mixes. He was doing everything he could to lay low just in case. ] ]

[ [His chews felt like they were burning from the blush that had risen at the embarrassing display. He could feel Kinjou's heart pounding under his fingers and his own pounded right along with it. Jeez, since when did he get romantic.

He met Kinjou's gaze again. A small smile playing on his face. ] ]

You should muzzle him if he's going to maul you like this.

[His lips quirk in amusement, hidden from his spot against Makishima's shoulder though he eventually pulls back and away as the warmth emanating from Makishima due to his blush and all his hair was getting to be a bit much. He returns the smile, huffing lightly.]

Perhaps I'll consider it. [He's not serious. ~~Maybe.~~]

[ He smirked softly, turning away and going back to getting the first aid kit and tending to Kinjou's wounds. ]
