[ I mean, he could. He's such a romanticist that he has ideas and standards and things he'd like regardless of never being on a real date. ]

I've been dating the same lady for the last three years, and her name is Ridley.

They're fans. They're nice to have, and I appreciate their attention, but you don't date your fans. They all need to be equal to each other or else.

[ Makishima's laughing and Toudou is smiling. That made it all worth it already. ]

[ Makishima still sounds amused and more than a little incredulous at all this. There were rules for this sort of thing? He wouldn't have guessed, but then he'd never been popular enough to have fans. ]

They get jealous when you start dating within their numbers. They'll turn on each other and your own popularity goes down because they think you betrayed them.

Fans like an untouchable idol more than a touchable one.

[ As much of a romantic as Toudou was didn't he have some thoughts on finding love? Not that Maki was thinking of those things, but love had fallen into his lap. ]

I'm not looking or anyone in particular. I just have an ideal that I want to fill.

I'm looking for someone who won't forget the romantic holidays and is just as happy to celebrate them with me as I am them. I want someone I can talk to about anything. They don't have to always be listening to me but always have a response. We can argue, but never fight. We don't have to go on adventures, but I want to go out as friends or a couple and feel completely comfortable with them doing anything.

[ There was only a small pause before he continued on. ]

The smaller things are more important, though. Being able to lay in bed together, talking or not at all. Them remembering little things I don't expect most to care about. Like nicknames, anniversaries, my schedule, things I like, stories I tell. The thoughtfulness is what I would like most. I want to feel like I can share my feelings with them all of the time. Like when we're climbing, only all of the time.

[ A small smile begins to play on Maki's face as Toudou talks. It's exactly what Makishima would have expected, but it doesn't sound unreasonable. It's all things Kinjou already does for him, so really it's no surprise that Makishima fell for him. Not that he's going to try and tell Toudou any of this. He knows a little bit better than that. ]

Ah, so what if a fan does all that for you, sho?

I would refuse them. I want them to enjoy what I do and support me, but there are also lines I have to draw. I wouldn't want to be the cause for someone I cared about being hurt.

There are other standards, too. I have to be strict.

[ There were a multitude of other things he'd also refuse. ]

[ Makishima made a small noise at the back of his throat but it was hard to tell if he was agreeing with Toudou or just musing about something else. ]
